List of Centres accepting private candidates plus general advice on exam registration.

Our courses  provide suitable preparation for  CIE  IGCSE exams. They are geared to CIE and the specifications of the CIE syllabus, which we believe to be more robust than the Edexcel specifications.

home educators maths courseIf you take the CIE option, you can be registered as a candidate of Little Arthur Independent and will need to attend our centre, in the Isles of Scilly, to take the exams. We will carry out the registration process for you and keep you fully informed as to dates etc  We offer exams in the Autumn session only.

Alternatively, you may register as a ‘private candidate’ with a CIE centre of your choice which is willing to accept private candidates. You will be sent full details when enrolling and can contact your chosen centre directly to make arrangements to sit exams. It is always well worthwhile approaching local schools & colleges which often prove helpful in acting as an exam centre.

You should remember that exam registration should be carried out well in advance. Exam dates will extend over several weeks and you will need to plan your exams well in advance. Exam dates are posted on our website.

Please ensure you have read our general advice section (see above) regarding approaching exam centres, before contacting the school with queries.

Taking Exams at Little Arthur

Daymark, St Martin\\

For students successfully completing their IGCSE courses, we run an Autumn exam session in October-November. For many, this is an opportunity to combine exams with a family holiday in Scilly's unique and unspoiled environment - but do book your travel and accommodation before registering for the exams.

On the beautiful island of St Martins, taking exams does not need to be a stressful experience. Geographically remote but easy to reach , the main island, St Marys, is served by direct flights from Newquay or Lands End or by steamer from Penzance during the tourist season. Penzance has excellent road and rail links with the rest of the country, including an overnight sleeper from London. From Penzance it's a short plane flight to St Marys, with a 20 minute launch trip across to St Martins.

The island is well equipped with a range of self catering accommodation to suit all pockets with rates being especially favourable in the Autumn.

For lots more information on what the island ,and Scilly in general, has to offer , visit some of  the websites below:
